The CGS team has successfully built and developed industrial businesses for over 20 years. CGS’s long-lasting success is based on its team members’ own industrial experience.

We know first-hand how much effort it takes to enter a new market and the momentum needed to implement a business plan successfully as well as how rewarding it is to win a key account. Our direct experience of such business realities makes us unique and forms a core element of our culture.

Indeed, we only invest in industries in which our team members already have extensive operational experience. This reduces our investment risks and increases our success rate.

We have a clear geographic and industry focus and consistently pursue a proven strategy.

Since its first investment, CGS has consistently followed the same strategy: industrial Buy & Build. Its successful implementation over several investment cycles was only possible thanks to the specific yet diverse personal profiles of the team members and their solid industrial work. Prior to joining CGS, most of them held senior management positions in industries in which the CGS funds invest.

CGS’s philosophy has not changed since its first fund was raised two decades ago. Over the years, we have consistently pursued a Buy & Build strategy aiming to develop market-leading industrial groups.

We start building such international groups with an initial “platform” acquisition in the DACH region – Germany, Austria and Switzerland. Then, the add-on investments follow over a period usually ranging from two to four years. The integration process is planned and steered by CGS and implemented by the platform’s management team. After successful integration, the group is considerably more valuable than the former worth of the separate companies combined.
